Introduction to Alienbrain System

Secure file management and version control

Alienbrain stores the assets and related data produced in a secure central server repository, performs version control and tracking, and prevents accidental overwriting by controlling concurrent operations on the same asset.

Comprehensive version history: You can use thumbnails to browse the version history of files and quickly identify the correct version. You can easily view, edit, and compare previous versions.

Rollback: To undo changes to a file, you can 'roll back' to any previous version. You can loop back individual files or entire folders.

Powerful search tool: Alienbrain provides powerful search options, from fast search to advanced search using wildcards and regular expressions. You can also search history to find specific versions of files or submitted change sets.

Various graphic and image files in visualization work

Intuitive user interface: Alienbrain's concise user interface is easy to learn and use. You can change the arrangement of different views to suit user preferences or workflow requirements.

Preview and Thumbnail: The Alienbrain preview server does not require you to remember file names and shortcuts, but instead generates thumbnails and previews in real time. Therefore, you can experience the Alienbrain asset library as an immersive visual environment where you can quickly find the right assets.

Local file status icon: Local file modifications are displayed using an intuitive icon, so you know what modifications you have made to the local file copy. You can find relevant files within a few seconds and recognize files that only exist locally, so you can import them into Alienbrain.

Provide a team collaboration environment

Image annotation: You can add non-destructive annotations to any image, stored in a separate markup layer, making it easy to provide visual feedback and identify the required changes.

Integrated messaging: Alienbrain's built-in messenger and email support simplifies team communication, allowing you to send hyperlinks or file copies to team members without switching applications.

Workflow status: Assign files to users, set expiration dates, and track work status from "in progress" to "signed in and locked". The markings on the file icon allow you to clearly identify the status at a glance.

Reporting: Advanced reporting tools allow project leaders and managers to track project status in real-time and reassign work items as needed. Pre defined and customized workflows allow you to quickly view the overall status of a project. Administrators can attach metadata, such as expiration dates and assigned users, to make project status easier to track.

Centralized file management

Fine grained access control: Administrators can control access permissions logically (by role) or physically (by file and folder). Users can assign roles to determine their access capabilities, or grant operation permissions to specific files or folders.

Remote Collaboration: With HTTP/https, remote customers can securely access the Alienbrain repository without the need for VPN access to shared folders.

Automatic database backup: To reduce downtime, you can regularly backup the project database without shutting down the system. Project metadata can be copied to the backup location at configurable time intervals.

Flexible storage management: Flexible offline and online functions help system administrators cope with next-generation multi TB projects. Bucket management allows you to easily and intelligently move old file versions to secondary storage, freeing up disk space.

Support for customization and API

Fully customizable and provides complete API documentation and sample code for Jscript, MEL, maxscript, C++, and Microsoft. NET, as well as many other customization tools.

Custom metadata: You can assign custom metadata to each file in the Alienbrain repository to help filter files, manage file variants, generate custom reports, and more. Each branch in the file tree can have custom metadata or inherit metadata from its parent branch.

Command line tools: can be used on all supported cross platform client platforms, providing advanced users with a powerful automated task and batch processing method.

Software Development File Management

Changeset: A changeset combines changes to individual files into a logical entity that can be used throughout the entire project lifecycle. The change set allows you to make changes locally and defer server-side execution until the entire change set is complete.

Parallel development and branching: With Alienbrain, developers can work in parallel on projects or modules and make modifications simultaneously - even to the same file. They can also work on different branches, making controllable modifications to the released product versions, while continuing the development of the main line. In both cases, Alienbrain tracks changes in various files and allows them to easily integrate their changes.
