Introduction

Adobe Bridge is an organizational tool program developed by Adobe and released as part of Adobe Creative Suite 2 (CS2) in May 2005. It has been updated to Adobe Bridge version 2022.

From the Bridge, you can view, search, sort, manage, and process image files. You can also use Adobe Bridge to create new folders, rename, move, and delete files, edit metadata, rotate images, run batch commands, and view information about files and data imported from digital cameras.

If you have Adobe Creative Suite, you can use the Bridge as a central location to use Adobe Version Cue from here. From Bridge, you can browse all the files in a project in one location without having to launch a local application for each file. Moreover, you can also create new Version Cue projects, delete projects, create versions, save backup files, and set access permissions in Bridge. See Using Version Cue in Bridge.

If you have Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Bridge includes the Bridge Center, which is the "dashboard" of Adobe Creative Suite. From here, you can view news readers, view your recent activities, read tips and tricks about using Adobe products, save file groups, and more in your web browser. Adobe Creative Suite users can also use Bridge to specify color management settings and access scripts that can help you automate workflows. See about Bridge Center.

Camera data

If you have installed Adobe Photoshop, you can open and edit camera raw data files from Bridge and save them in a format compatible with Photoshop. You can edit image settings directly in the Camera Raw Data dialog box without starting Photoshop. If you do not have Photoshop installed, you can still preview the camera's original data file in Bridge. Please refer to Opening a File in Bridge.

Color management

You can use Bridge to synchronize color settings between different applications. This synchronization ensures that the color effect is the same regardless of which Creative Suite application is used for viewing. Please refer to Synchronizing Color Settings between Adobe Applications.

Centralized color settings

Set color preferences in the centralized panel of Adobe Bridge to make the colors in the project and files more consistent. This set of preferences is used to control Photoshop CS5 version, Illustrator CS5, InDesign CS5, and Adobe Acrobat ® 9 Pro's color settings, so when you use multiple Creative Suite components, the colors on the screen will be very consistent.
