We have released a new version of the ONLYOOFFICE application for Box, which brings multiple practical improvements to enhance your document editing experience on the platform. With version 1.1.0, you can directly invite Box users to collaborate in the document, convert password protected files, and support more new formats.
Invite other Box users to collaborate
With the latest version of the ONLYOOFFICE application for Box, the collaboration experience is more convenient. Now, you can use the "+" symbol in document annotations to quickly invite other Box users to join.
To invite other users, simply add comments in your document, add+, and enter the invitee's email address. After you add annotations, the system will automatically send an invitation email to that email address. The invitee can click on the link in the email to view the document.
Please note that users invited through annotations can only view documents by default. To grant editing permissions, please adjust them in the Box settings.
Convert password protected files for editing
Previously, password protected files could not be converted. But in version 1.1.0, the ONLYOOFFICE application for Box achieved a breakthrough, supporting the conversion of such files while maintaining password protection.
To convert password protected documents, simply click on the three dot icons next to the Updated and Size parameters, enter the context menu, select Integrations, and then click Open with ONLYOOFFICE.
Next, if you need to edit, select Create an OOXML copy or Open the file for editing. If you choose the former, the system will ask you to enter your password in the current window, and then generate an unprotected copy of the OOXML
If you choose the Open the file for editing option, the system will not require you to enter your password immediately.
After clicking Open, your file will open in the ONLYOOFFICE editor, and you can enter your password in the corresponding field. Just click Open to start editing password protected files.
Select the desired file type when converting XML
Another improvement introduced in version 1.1.0 is the ability to select the desired file type when converting XML * files. When using ONLYOOFFICE to open such files for editing, you need to choose between Document or SPREADSHEET as needed.
*XML (Extensible Markup Language) is a markup language and file format that can be read by humans and understood by computers. It is often used to store and exchange data between computer systems.
