In ONLYOFFICE Collaboration Space 2.0 version, we have added public rooms that can share files with external users. Public rooms can be integrated into your website or single page application (SPA), and visitors do not need to download or register their collaborative space account to view documents. We have introduced a step-by-step guide in this article.

What is a public room?

From now on, there are three types of rooms available in ONLYOFFICE collaboration: collaborative, custom, and public.

In public rooms, users can be invited through external links to view files without registering, and editing and other operations that may affect file content cannot be performed.

If necessary, you can generate multiple external links with different parameters to set various access permissions. It is possible to restrict certain users from downloading, copying, and printing room content. Additionally, you can set room passwords for these users.

How to embed public rooms

Please follow the steps below to integrate public rooms.

Step 1: On the main screen of the collaboration space, click on the three dots next to the name, and then go to Settings.

Step 2: On the left panel, select "Developer Tools".

Step 3: Click on the JavaScript SDK and go to Embed Collaboration Space in iframe format.

Important reminder: To embed the collaboration space as an iframe on other websites, you need to enter its URL in the corresponding field of the JavaScript SDK tab. Otherwise, the embedded area will not be displayed in the webpage draft.

Step 4: Scroll down to Create Example Collaboration Space Embedding. To display a specific room, go to Data Display Settings and select from the list of created rooms.

You can customize the embedding area by changing the width and height, frame ID, and selecting interface elements.

Step 5: Switch to the code to be inserted and copy the generated code snippet.

Step 6: Insert the generated code snippet into the index. HTML file of the website. The public room can now be displayed on your webpage.
