In the field of digital sculpture and 3D modeling, ZBrush is a widely used software that provides unlimited creative possibilities for artists and designers with its powerful features and intuitive interface. Mirror symmetry is a very practical feature in ZBrush that allows users to quickly generate symmetrical models during the creative process, which is particularly important when creating characters, animals, or other symmetrical objects. However, sometimes there may be some issues when using mirroring and welding functions, such as incorrect or asymmetrical positioning.

There is a powerful feature in ZBrush called "Mirror Symmetry", which can be found in the "Modify Topology" submenu of the "Geometry" menu. With this' Mirror and Weld 'command, you can create a mirror image of the model on the X, Y, or Z axis. This feature is extremely useful, especially when dealing with symmetrical models, such as handling the left and right halves of a character, saving a lot of time and energy.

However, be careful about the center point position of the model before using mirror symmetry. ZBrush performs mirroring operations based on the position of the model relative to the center point of the world. Ensuring model alignment is the key to successfully applying mirror symmetry.

Sometimes using "mirroring and welding" in ZBrush may result in unreliable model positioning. Probably because the model is not aligned to the center point of the world, or the symmetry of a certain axis is messed up. The steps to solve this problem are as follows:

Check if the model is aligned: make sure it matches the world center point of ZBrush. If it doesn't work, use the "center" function to adjust its position.

First, 'Mirror': In the 'Transform' menu, use 'Mirror' to create a mirror image of the model on the correct axis in advance.

Use 'mirror and weld' again: After aligning or pre mirroring the model, use 'mirror and weld' again. This move can ensure accurate mirroring and welding.

Model misalignment: It is necessary to ensure that the model is not skewed and aligned to the center point of the world in order to be symmetrical.

Topology not working: If the topology structure of the model is asymmetric, no matter how much mirroring is done, it will be useless. We need to manually adjust or use 'ZRemesher' to create a symmetrical topology again.

Small details and deformations: Sometimes small details or deformations on the model can also disrupt the mirrored results.
