When writing documents containing mathematical formulas, it is often necessary to insert English text into the formulas to describe the meaning of variables or annotate specific parts. Adding tags can also help us better create formulas when dealing with complex mathematical relationships.
How to type English in formula editor?
Entering English text in MathType is very intuitive and simple. Below, we will demonstrate the specific operational steps for everyone.
1. Open the MathType editor and prepare to input the formula.

2. In MathType, mathematical symbols and formulas are inputted by default. If we need to input English text, we can use the shortcut keys Shift+Ctrl+E to switch to text mode. At this point, we can input English text just like in a regular text editor.

3. In text mode, enter the desired English text directly in the editing area. If you need to insert text into a formula, you can enter the text in the appropriate position and use the above shortcut keys again to return to mathematical mode and continue editing the formula.

How to add tags to MathType?
Adding labels to formulas can help us reference and create formulas more easily. Adding tags in MathType is also very simple. Below, we will demonstrate the specific operation of how to add tags in MathType.
1. After opening the MathType formula editor, you will see a row of categorized labels below the MathType template. If you haven't seen the MathType tab bar, we can click on "View" ->"tab bar" to display it.

2. For those that have already been classified, there is no need to customize them. For the latter two labels, we usually save the commonly used formulas in "Label 8" and "Label 9". Right click on "Label 8" and select "Properties".

3. After clicking on "Properties", a dialog box for "Label Properties" will pop up. In the "Label Name" column, enter the label name you need, such as "Function". In the shortcut keys, you can also enter the shortcut key combination you want, and then click "OK".

4. Returning to the MathType editing state, you will find that the tag name has been changed to 'Function'. Next, select the formulas we commonly use and drag them to the blank space under this label bar to complete adding labels
