Error Message

Attempting to add an additional member to an ArcGIS Online organization fails and returns the error message below:

Error:

Your organization has reached the maximum number of members your current subscription allows. This limit includes pending invitations.

Cause

· The number of user types has exceeded the amount purchased in the ArcGIS Online subscription.

· The existing ArcGIS Online organization subscription has expired.

Solution or Workaround

Depending on the cause, follow one of the workarounds below to resolve the error.

Assign an available user type in ArcGIS Online

If there are not enough of a particular user type in an organization, assign an available user type to the organization member.

1. Log in to ArcGIS Online with an administrator account.

2. Click Organization > Members.

3. Type the member's name in the Search members box.

4. Click the More options ··· button and select Manage user type.

5. In the Manage user type / role for <member's username> window, for User type and Role, select and assign the new user type and role.

6. Click Save to save the changes.

Reassign a license in ArcGIS Online

Remove the license from an organization member and assign it to the preferred organization member in ArcGIS Online.

1. Log in to ArcGIS Online with an administrator account.

2. Click Organization > Licenses > Add-on licenses.

3. In the Add-on licenses tab, navigate to the affected Esri product and click Manage.

4. Search for the member's name in the Search members box.

5. Toggle the license button off or on to revoke or assign the license to the intended organization member.

Renew an expired subscription or purchase an additional license

Please contact a customer service representative to renew an ArcGIS Online organization subscription, or purchase additional licenses for the ArcGIS Online organization.
