What is Zotero?

 

Zotero is a free literature management tool that allows for easy collection, organization, citation, and sharing of research resources. You can use it through browser extensions, standalone programs on your computer, or built-in plugins such as the ONLYOFFICE document editor. Using this tool can greatly improve the efficiency of literature management and citation, allowing you to have more time to focus on research.

 

How to Save Your Literature in Zotero Library

To insert literature, you need to first save the required literature in your Zotero library. So please register on the Zotero official website first.

After registering on the official website, log in, click on Web Library, and add the literature you need here.




How to obtain the Zotero API for free?

Because using this plugin in ONLYOFFICE requires an API key, we also need to obtain a free API key in Zotero

Get Path: Home>>Settings>>Feeds/API>>New Key

After arriving at this interface, click on Save Key




Then the API key in the green box will be generated. Please copy the API key



How to use Zotero in the ONLYOFFICE editor?

Return to the ONLYOFFICE editor and open the article where the literature needs to be inserted

Switch to the Plugins tab on the top toolbar and select Zotero (For friends who have not used it before, please click on Plugin Manager and install it)


 

Enter the newly saved API key and press the Enter key key

Select the format for referencing references below: The citation format for Chinese literature generally adopts GB/T 7714. We use the China National Standard GB/T 7714-2015 (numerical, Chinese) format here. Select the corresponding language.


 

 


Enter the literature keywords (author/title/year) in the search box above to search

Click on Insert Reference where you need to insert the reference



 

How to obtain the plugin?

This plugin * is installed by default in the ONLYOFFICE workspace (Enterprise and Community versions), ONLYOFFICE Cloud Edition, and ONLYOFFICE Personal Edition. You can find it in the "Plugins" option on the top toolbar.

You may need to update the plugin. To do this, click on 'Plugin Manager', locate Zotero, and then click 'Update'.

You can also manually install the plugin in the editor desktop version. To achieve this, you need to obtain the plugin in GitHub and follow this instruction or the Bilibili video guide to install the Zotero plugin.
